National Circus Project Coming To Long Island Children’s Museum

On July 15 at 1:30 p.m. at the Long Island Children’s Museum, the National Circus Project is coming and bringing some of their best acts. A chance to sit back and enjoy their hysterical acts, then join in the fun and learn all the tricks of the trade. The whole family will enjoy this show. Ages: 3 and up. Fee: $4 with museum admission ($3 LICM members), $8 theater only

“Step Into Art” At Long Island Children’s Museum which will be featured until September 2. Enter the framework of famous paintings, arrange works of art into your own art gallery, create a chalk wall mural, and experience art as never before in “Framed: Step into Art,” This imaginative and interactive exhibit is sure to bring out the inner artist in everyone. Uncover an artistic side through a number of creative activities, including: explore Grant Wood’s “Dinner for Threshers” firsthand and sit down for some home cooking before heading to the barn to check on the farm animals. Travel back to the Canadian Rockies in 1916 and discover camping gear like John Singer Sargent would have used. Ride Clementine Hunter’s Big Chicken and helping complete Diego Rivera’s mural “Corn Festival.” View original and famous parodies of “Mona Lisa;” create your own version of Mona Lisa’s enigmatic expression.

Be the artist by creating your own wall mural with chalk and create your own gallery by arranging works of art in frames. Embark on an art hunt and record your responses to the art at a talk back computer station. “Framed: Step into Art” was created by the Minnesota Children’s Museum. All ages. Free with museum admission. All activities will be held at the Long Island Children’s Museum, 11 Davis Avenue, Garden City. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Museum admission: $11 for adults and children. Under a year, free. $10 seniors. Additional fees for theater and special programs may apply. The Board of Trustees of the Shelter Rock Public Library will hold their next board meeting at 7:30 p.m. in the library’s community room. The public is invited to attend. The meeting may contain an executive session for discussion of personnel and/or contract issues.

Concert in New Hyde Park Memorial Park

The Jersey Four, a tribute to Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons at 7 p.m. Just bring a chair or blanket and enjoy. Memorial Park is located between Lincoln and Wilton Avenues in New Hyde Park.

Irish American Society To Hold Dance

The Irish American Society of Nassau, Suffolk and Queens, Inc., 297 Willis Avenue, Mineola, will hold a dance at 8:30 p.m. with music by Liam McLoughlin, direct from Ireland. Fee is $20 per person.

Spotlight New Hyde Park For New Hyde Park Talent

Competition begins and runs every Friday through August 17 at 7 p.m. at the William Gill Theatre atop New Hyde Park Village Hall, corner of New Hyde Park Road and Jericho Turnpike in New Hyde Park.

Randy And The Rainbows

Randy and The Rainbows will be performing at 7:30 p.m. at Clinton Martin Park, corner of New Hyde Park Road and Marcus Avenue. Group is famous for “Denise, Denise” and other golden oldies.

Volksfest German-American Festival At Plattduetsche Park

The 129th Volksfest German-American Festival will be held on Saturday July 14 and again on Sunday July 15 at Plattduetsche Park, 1132 Hempstead Turnpike, Franklin Square. The park opens Saturday at noon and on Sunday the German church service will be held at 9:30 a.m. There will be a free breakfast on Sunday from 10 to 11:30 a.m. with paid admission. Saturday afternoon music by Die Spitzbam and Sunday night music by The Foehrer Musik Freunde. Bavarian dancing by Original Enzian Schlierachtaler Stamm Gemeetlichen Enzianer. Dancing also by Koelsche Funkenmariechen. At this time Miss Plattduetsche Queen and Princess Contest will be held. Activities for children include free rides, ice cream parade, magic. Admission is $9, children under 12 free. Plenty of parking. Included will be German food and beer, game stands, imported specialties, shooting in the rifle range for prizes.
