GSBfestThe “Music Lover’s Festival” returns for its sixth big year on the picturesque waterfront of Shorefront Park July 13 through July 15 with more than 50 performers in the rock, jam-band, folk, jazz, blues, country and funk genres on four stages including an emerging artist stage and children’s tent and stage.

Friday kicks off with performances including headliner and rock legend Dave Mason with his band, plus Irish rockers Black 47,  then on to “Red Horse” a folk super-group consisting of legends John Gorka, Lucy Kaplansky & Eliza Gilkyson, plus local roots legend guitarist-singer-songwriter  Kerry Kearney.

Saturday is roots – jam day with more than 18 performers, and headlining this year are jam favorites “MOE.”, plus Tea Leaf Green, legendary singer-songwriter Martin Sexton,  James Maddock, and New Orleans R&B funksters Brother Joscephus & the Love Revival Orchestra.

Sunday is Classic & Contemporary Rock and this year Great South Bay has answered the request for a high level  tribute by bringing back to Long Island, after a 4-year absence, the very popular “The Music of Led Zeppelin – A Rock Symphony”. “This is no local tribute” says Faith “this is a charted 27 piece symphony orchestra led by conductor and creator Brent Havens, backed and amplified by a full rock band, and the screaming vocals of Zebras Randy Jackson. This is the finest Zep touring rock show in the country”.

The two hour concert features 18 Zeppelin tunes, state of the art sound, and a cutting edge light show.

Also appearing on Sunday is Garland Jeffrey’s and fast rising Americana roots band “Ollabelle”, Amy Helm’s (daughter of Levon Helm) band.

As always, a healthy lineup of  local original favorites and emerging artists performing throughout the weekend including Streetlight Circus, Aeroplane Pageant, Woodfish, Lone Sharks, Tauk, Electrix, Miles to Dayton, Nancy Atlas, Shadow Eden, Jay Scott, Funkin A, Joe Bayer Band, and  many more.

Original is the key word, as 99 percent of the fest is dedicated to promoting and presenting great original music.

School of Rock’s country-wide All-Star Band will also perform on Sunday evening, right before leaving on their US tour.

The KIDZONE Tent & Stage presents top level educational children’s performers, hands-on activities, arts & crafts, a traveling Pet Zoo, puppetry, and of course, our resident Pyrate camp.

An expanded “Arts exhibit and Installation” by Long Island Creative Vortex & Studio E will provide an art exhibit, sculptures, as well as “Live Art”. No less than 10 artists will paint live on 120 feet of canvass on the side of the Main Stage throughout the weekend. Children should also wear their painting clothes cause’ the arts group will also provide paints and brushes and 30’ of canvas for our little future artists. As always, children are free.

Shoppers and browsers will love Great South Bay’s huge arts & crafts market, and food court featuring a diverse selection of healthy & funky hot & cold fare & beverages.
