Actor Michael Clarke Duncan is reportedly recovering from a heart attack and has been admitted a Los Angeles hospital on Friday.

TMZ reported that his girlfriend, Omarosa Manigault-Stallworth, discovered Duncan, 54, in a state of cardiac arrest before 2 a.m. and performed CPR to resuscitate him.

He was taken to a hospital and placed in the intensive care unit.

“According to doctors, Michael Clarke Duncan suffered a myocardial infarction early this morning”Duncan’s publicist, Joy Fehily, told E! News. “He is now stable and we look forward to his full recovery.”

Doctors are currently performing tests to see what triggered the heart attack.

Duncan became a vegetarian three years ago and released a video with PETA last May in which he mentioned the decision was in part because of illnesses and health problems. He didn’t elaborate on any specific illnesses.

“The best thing about being a vegetarian for me, number one is I know I’m not harming any animals,” Duncan said in an interview with PETA. “The number two thing is increased strength. I’m a lot stronger than I was when I was eating meat. Most of your most powerful animals in the wild are vegetarian, so I’m trying to get my strength to that level. I don’t know if I’ll make it or not, but elephants are vegetarians. They’re pretty big, so…”

He has said he lost 35 lbs. off his 6-foot, five-inch build since becoming a vegetarian.

The Oscar nominee has starred in films such as The Green Mile, Armageddon, Sin City, and Kung-Fu Panda.

Stallworth has appeared on The Apprentice, Fear Factor, and Girls Behaving Badly.
