Singer Stefani Germanotta, better known as Lady Gaga, will be making her film debut in Machete Kills, the sequel to the 2010 flick, Machete.

Gaga will star as the character, La Chameleon, alongside film stars Lindsay Lohan, Vanessa Hudgens, Danny Trejo and Mel Gibson.

Director Robert Rodriguez confirmed the singer’s role on Twitter.

“I just finished working with @LadyGaga on @MacheteKills, she kicked SO MUCH ASS!,” he tweeted along with a picture of Gaga from the film wearing a white fur and holding a gun. “Holy Smokes. Blown away!”

The singer and now actress also resorted to Twitter to confirm her part in the film, which is due out next year.

“Yes, it’s true,” she tweeted. “I will be making my debut as an actress in the amazing MACHETE KILLS By @RODRIGUEZ. IM SO EXCITED!! Ah! Filming was insane.”

The pop star rose to fame in 2009 with her hit single, ‘Just Dance’ and with the release of her debut album, The Fame. She has since become known for songs, such as ‘Paparazzi,’ ‘Bad Romance’ and ‘Born this Way,’ as well as her outlandish taste in fashion.

She has described stars, including Madonna, Britney Spears and David Bowie, as her musical influences and has become a well known advocate of LGBT and immigration rights.

While the singer claims the film is her first acting gig, TMZ posted a video on its website of the star making her acting debut at 15 on an episode of The Sopranos as a teenage extra in one scene.

Gaga has reportedly made other appearances in television and film, including the hit TV series, Gossip Girl, American Idol and The Muppets, though only as herself.
