The tornado warning for Suffolk County is over, but the effects of the strong storms that moved through Long Island Friday afternoon are still apparent.
“There’s no indication of any rotation that we’re seeing at this point,” meteorologist David Stark from the National Weather Service in Upton said. Stark added that rumored reports of a tornado touchdown in Port Jefferson are false. Doppler radar did pick up some rotation near Saltaire on Fire Island.

Stark said that this storm should leave Long Island within the next hour to hour-and-a-half, and that residents could even see some sun in the afternoon.
The Long Island Rail Road experienced delays on the Babylon and Montauk branches due to the storm.
The NWS said that there have been reports of flooded roadways in Babylon, Islip, Great River and Bohemia.
The stormy weather will come back for Friday night, with some showers and thunderstorms capable of producing heavy rain and high winds. Showers will continue into Saturday and thunderstorms could return by Saturday night.
