Emma Guevara Knows Oyster Bay
Emma Guevara emailed her answer to the Aug. 23 mystery picture in the Enterprise Pilot. “The picture is of the Easter egg hunt at Raynham Hall.” She is exactly right. The museum holds an annual Easter egg hunt for children in their Victorian Garden.
School is opening on Thursday, Aug. 30 this year, so we would like to wish Emma and all her fellow students a great year.
Billy Minicozzi called to identify the mystery picture as an Easter egg hunt. On a sports note he said when he called last week, “the NFL and referees are in negotiations for a new contract. The NFL is using replacement referees in the interim.”
Speaking of Bayville, where Billy Minicozzi lives, Jeanie Mansuetto of Coast Realty re-opened her business in a new location, opposite the firehouse, at 255 Bayville Avenue on Aug. 24 with a gala party. Congratulations Jeanie. She was a familiar face in Oyster Bay for many years when she had her office at what is now Appliance World.
We also received calls about the Aug. 16 mystery picture with more accurate locations. Jean Zaino said, “The photo was not of the Oyster Bay Marina, but Sagamore Yacht Club.”
She is correct. We were r-e-a-l-l-y stretching the location out to the marina.
Dorothy Titus of Locust Valley also called. She said about the picture, “It is taken from the clubhouse at the Sagamore Yacht Club, looking toward the water; and you can see the Dolan’s boat in the background. I recognize the people. We always have a good time when we go there.” Ms. Titus is a longtime member of the boating community in Oyster Bay.
We also received a call from “The Mystery Phantom,” who said, “The photo was taken at the Sagamore Corinthian Yacht Club.”
So there we have another more-or-less correct answer. We are still interested in another call about the gathering itself, at the Sagamore Yacht Club. Any takers?
Keep on guessing, it keeps you young — really!
