Fall Fair
St. John’s of Lattingtown’s 60th Annual Fall Fair is from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., with a special preview from 9 to 10 a.m. for those who wish to have the first opportunity to purchase antiques, jewelry, art, collectibles, books and other items. St. John’s Fair is also celebrating a Diamond Jubilee this year, as the first fair was in September 1952. This year’s theme will be a British one, Harry Potter. Victoria Crosby Fair Chairman invites the young and young at heart to come dressed as characters from the Harry Potter series. In addition to games and rides there will be Harry Potter themed musical performers in the morning and afternoon. Booths include children’s clothes and toys, Christmas and handmade items, furniture, antiques, collectibles, bric a brac, plants, sporting goods. Pastries, bagels and coffee are available in the morning and hamburgers, hotdogs, cold drinks, and ice cream will be served from noon until 4 p.m. There will be face painting, bouncy rides, pumpkin painting and many activities for young children. Wildlife Through The Seasons: A Journey Through the Lens of a Nature Photographer with Lloyd Spitalnik at the Cold Spring Harbor Library, 95 Harbor Road (Route 25A), Cold Spring Harbor. Journey through the four seasons with noted photographer Lloyd Spitalnik. Visit places like Central Park, Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge, Jones Beach, Sterling Forest, Barnegat Light, Cape May and other locations. The Lymphatic Research Foundation is proud to announce the 3rd Annual Walk for Lymphedema and Lymphatic Diseases. This event supports funding for The Lymphatic Research Foundation (LRF), which is an organization dedicated to advancing research of the lymphatic system and to find improved treatments and cures for lymphatic diseases, lymphedema, and related disorders. The Bethpage Ocean to Sound 50-Mile Relay will be held on Sunday, Sept. 23 to support The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Spend A Day With TR
NPS Park Ranger Howard Ehrlich is presenting his free talks on “President Theodore Roosevelt’s Oyster Bay” on Sundays for the entire summer. The free walking tour starts at 2 p.m. Meet in the LIRR parking lot in Oyster Bay. After the walking tour, visitors are invited to gather at Christ Church, 61 East Main St., to hear Mr. Ehrlich talk on the “Last Days of Theodore Roosevelt.” Theodore Roosevelt’s funeral was held at Christ Church and a pew is dedicated to him. After that talk, all are invited to drive to Youngs Cemetery in Oyster Bay Cove for a discussion of the funeral of Theodore Roosevelt. U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Needs Oyster Bay Recruits
The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla in the Oyster Bay area is recruiting new members. They are needed to assist the Coast Guard in performing Homeland Security missions and to implement the Coast Guard’s many recreational boating safety programs. No experience or boat is required. Muttontown Unitarian Universalist Fellowship
The Fellowship provides an atmosphere of warmth and camaraderie, with talks presented by intelligent enlightening and non-dogmatic speakers who come from the entire spectrum of the arts, history and sciences. This is followed by coffee and an informal discussion circle, held in the turn-of-the-18th century farmhouse in a bucolic setting.
