FLG girls lacrosse was started in 2009 with a great team of young ladies who shared a love for the game. The 2013 team will be the first girl’s team to graduate in the program’s history. As they move into their senior year, FLG girls lacrosse is excited to announce it first FLG players to verbally commit to play college lacrosse and who are looking forward to signing their national letter of intent this November.
Marie Cristoforo, Garden City – Marie is a varsity player for defending state champions Garden City. She is an honor roll student who has dedicated her time to the field, the classroom and to helping others through various community service activities. Marie is one of the hardest working kids on the team and approaches everything with a smile. FLG girls lacrosse is happy to announce that she will be attending Marquette next fall.
Jackie Jahelka, Garden City – Jackie is a two-sport varsity player at Garden City, one of the top programs on Long Island. She is a member of the National Honors Society and has been on the Principal’s Honor Roll for the last three years. She is a very talented player who brings grace and finesse to the field. Having Jackie as one of the original members of FLG has been a great asset to the program and FLG girls lacrosse wishes her luck at Adelphi University.
About FLG (For the Love of the Game):
FLG is a boys and girls lacrosse organization based out of Massapequa. Founded in 2006 by Bob Jahelka and Mike Winkoff, the organization is comprised of eight boys and eight girls select teams. The organization was formed to enhance the attributes of Long Island children through the fundamentals of lacrosse, while assisting the Long Island Community with various outreach programs. Since athletics is a vital part of children’s lives, FLG believes that participation in sports provides excellent preparation for achievement in school and for later in life. Additionally, the organization provides the young men and women added exposure to college coaches through fall, spring and summer lacrosse.
