POB Congratulates National Merit Commended Students

John F. Kennedy High School students earn national recognition

The Plainview-Old Bethpage Central School District has announced that 14 John F. Kennedy High School (POBJFK) students have been recognized by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation as Commended Students in the 2012-13 competition.

POBJFK students Katherine Huang-Ouyang, Joanna Eagle, Eileen Koh, Jasmin Kang, Jeremy Friedell, Adam Gabalski, Rachel Bright, Natalie Borowski, Jennifer Wang, Kevin Koo, Joseph Yi, James Shamul, Fred Lee and Malcolm Lorber were recognized by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation for their outstanding performance on the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying (PSAT/NMSQT) Exam.

These academically talented high school seniors received this commendation for scoring in the top 50,000 out of the 1.5 million students who participated in the 2011 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test last October.
