Choral students train and perform with voice coach and soloist Ron Meixsell
Over 50 students in the Plainview-Old Bethpage Central School District in grades 7-12 dedicated two weeks of their summer to working with high school choir teacher Mr. Paltrowitz and guest clinician Ron Meixsell at the annual summer choral clinic. Meixsell is a professional singer and voice coach who has performed with the New York Grand Opera.
At the conclusion of the program, the participating students performed “Faure’s Requiem” and a few other Broadway selections alongside their mentors in a concert held at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Plainview.
“Mr. Meixsell brought an unexplainable warmth to the clinic and made it unforgettable,” said POBJFK choir student Jackie Primack. “A definite highlight was getting to sing behind Mr. Meixsell while he sang the solo in “Old Man River.”
