Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, 57 Spooner St., Floral Park will be hosting their annual Granny’s Attic sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Bric-a-brac, books, gently used jewelry, gently used toys, and baked goods. Food and refreshments will be available. For more information, call 516-775-9669.

Free Lecture at Hofstra University

The Long Island Society of the Archaeological Institute of America will be presenting a free lecture titled “The Unsolved Mystery of the Athenian Agora Bone Well” at 2 p.m. The lecture will take place in Breslin Hall, Room 106 at Hofstra University. Speaker will be Dr. Susan Rotroff, (AIA speaker), who is a professor in the Dept. of Classics at Washington University, St. Louis. Dr. Rotroff has studied and will discuss how human and animal bones found their way into the well. For more information, call 631-420-1564.

Doo-Wop Fundraiser

An Evening With the Stars: Doo-Wop Fundraiser to help support the games for the physically challenged will be held on Friday, Dec. 7 at 8 p.m. at Bethpage High School. Featuring Winnie Winfield, Lenny Dell and the Dimensions, Continentals, Cathy Jean, The Fireflies, The Jarmels, and Classic Sounds. Tickets are $25 each, reserved seating only. Free parking. Elmont American Legion Post 1033

It’s time to highlight Elmont American Legion Post 1033 located in the impressive building on Hill Ave. Besides providing great Memorial Day parades, the post is involved in many programs that benefit the community. Veterans are welcome to join this organization and become part of a group devoted to the betterment of the community. Call 354-9884. 

Thrift Shop

The thrift shop at the Floral Park United Methodist Church located at 35 Verbena Ave., is now open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m on Wednesdays and Saturdays. There is a wide selection of household items, jewelry, antiques, clothing, as well as a Christmas room and Halloween decorations.
