Obituary: Joy Jorgensen

Joy Jorgensen, lifelong resident of Farmingdale, on Oct. 19, 2012. Beloved wife of the late Lawrence. Devoted mother of Joy Jorgensen-Guarino (Bob). Her greatest joy, honor and what she was most proud of was being G’Ma to Jayne. Retired Farmingdale schoolteacher and union representative president of the YES Foundation, officer of the Farmingdale Women’s Club, Farmingdale library board member, former Farmingdale school board member, past president of Farmingdale Breakfast Rotary, Town of Oyster Bay Woman of Distinction and PTA Jenkins Award winner. Proud owner of many golden retrievers including her babycakes, J.D. Funeral Service was held at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, Farmingdale, Interment Huntington Rural Cemetery, Huntington. In lieu of flowers the family request donations to YES Foundation, LUHI and/or Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital.
