Dorothea M. Devine, a lifelong resident of Oyster Bay, died on December 2, 2012.
She was the cherished wife of the late Francis P. DeVine and the beloved mother of Karen (Phil) Taglia, and Paul J. She was the adoring grandmother of Sarah Rose, and Francesca Mary.
She was the dear sister of the late E. Matthew, Francis, James and Vincent Murphy and the sister-in-law of Rose, and Anne Murphy. She was a loving aunt to many nieces and nephews.
Ms. DeVine was a past board member of the Oyster Bay Visiting Nurse Association, Visiting Nurse Association of Long Island, a longtime Meals on Wheels volunteer and board member. She was a past treasurer of the Catholic Daughters of America Court Sacred Heart.
After receiving her masters in public health, Dorothea worked for the Nassau County Department of Health as a public health nurse. She later joined her husband in running the funeral home.
Visiting at the Francis P. DeVine Funeral Home Inc. was scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday Dec. 6 and 7 with a Funeral Mass Friday at 10:30 a.m. in the Chapel of St. Dominic’s R.C. Church. Interment to follow at the Locust Valley Cemetery.
Karen DeVine Taglia said, “We will be decorating the funeral home for Christmas in order to spend one last Christmas with Mom.
