Coaches vs. Cancer Basketball Event Raises Money For Charity

Portledge School hosted a Varsity Girls and Boys Invitational Basketball Tournament in conjunction with Coaches vs. Cancer. Participating schools included:  Evangel Christian High School (Long Island City), Martin Luther High School (Maspeth), Portledge School (Locust Valley) and Waldorf School (Garden City). The three-day event raised $1,152.86, which is being donated to the American Cancer Society. Congratulations to the Portledge School for winning the Girls Division and to Evangel Christian High School on capturing the Boys Division Championship. Portledge Director of Athletics, Phil Hills, highlighted the work of his staff when he said, “The commitment of all our basketball coaches to this worthy endeavor is an example of our school’s strong character at work. Their actions are full of passion, integrity, purpose and honor.”
