Smokey Joe’s Cafe

Township Theatre Group marks its 60th season with the lively musical Smokey Joe’s Café, the hottest joint in town. Show offers cabaret-style seating along with an appetizer and dessert concession stand throughout the performance. Performances on March 2, 8 and 9 at 8 p.m., and on March 3 and 10 at 2 p.m. at the Helen Butler Hall Theatre at Dominican Village, 565 Albany Ave., in Amityville. Tickets $20, student/senior $18. Festivities begin at the 1 p.m. mass at St. Martin of Tours Church. Parade route begins at 2 p.m. on Central Avenue in Bethpage, down Stewart Avenue and returning on Broadway.

ILR At Farmingdale State College

Public Hearing

A public hearing will be held on Monday, March 4 at the Village Board meeting, beginning at 8 p.m. at the Village of Farmingdale, 361 Main Street, to consider the application of Paninis R Us, Inc. for a special use permit. The applicant proposes a specialty food store with seating located at 257 Main Street. 

Creative Cups Exhibit and Auction

The Third Annual Creative Cups, turning ordinary bras into works of art, will be held at Adelphi University in Garden City. Bra creations will be auctioned on Thursday, March 14, at 6 p.m. Money raised supports the Adelphi NY Statewide Breast Cancer Hotline & Support Program. Tickets are $50 ($65 for day of event walk-ins) and can be purchased on-line: www.adelphi.edu/creative-cups. Call the hotline at 800-877-8077 for information. In addition to the auction, a special exhibition, “Highlights—Selected Works from Creative Cups 2013,” will feature 15 submissions at the Ruth S. Harley University Center Gallery from March 4 through March 11.

Figure Drawing Open Studio

Open to the public at Farmingdale State College. Improve your figure drawing skills in a professional setting surrounded by peers. Each session will be presided by a Visual Communications faculty member and a live nude male or female model. All ages are welcome, but participants under age 18 must be signed in by a parent or guardian prior to the beginning of each session. Cost is $5 per session. Bring drawing materials: paper, charcoal, pencils, tape and other medium/tools needed. Next sessions: March 5, April 2, May 7, June 4 from 6 to 9 p.m. in Nathan Hale Hall, Room 232. 

Homemakers Council Meeting

Rumrunning On Long Island

The Farmingdale Bethpage Historical Society of Long Island will host the presentation on March 10 at 2 p.m. at the Farmingdale Public Library, 116 Merritts Road. Program is free and open to the public. Refreshments and social hour will be held following the program. 

St. Pat’s Dinner

St. Thomas Episcopal Churchwomen, 298 Conklin Street is having their St. Patrick’s Day Dinner on Sunday, March 10 at 5 p.m. The cost is $15 per adult, $5 per child under 12. The menu consists of corn beer, cabbage, potatoes, hot dogs, macaroni and cheese, Irish soda bread, rye bread, dessert, coffee, and tea.

Eve Eskin Foundation’s Psychic Evening Reading

The Farmingdale Community Summit Expo and Health Fair is Farmingdale’s premier event for bringing business and community together. This year’s event will be held on Thursday, March 21 from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at Farmingdale High School on Lincoln Street. This event is organized by the Farmingdale Community Summit Council and sponsored by the Farmingdale Chamber.
