Third Graders Learn About
Ghanaian Life and Culture
Students at Pasadena Elementary School were recently treated to cross-continental learning without having to leave the classroom. Thanks to an organization called Innovations for Poverty Action, a nonprofit dedicated to helping the world’s poor that is run through Yale University and the University of Ghana, students in Ms. Macedonio’s and Ms. Wisoky’s third-grade classes had the unique opportunity to Skype with students in Ghana, Africa.
During their Skype session, the Pasadena third-graders were able to see firsthand Ghanaian culture, foods, transportation and weather. The Ghanaian students even performed a traditional African song for their American counterparts called “Kpanlogo,” which commemorates the country’s 1957 independence.
