Please be advised that residents can expect the receipt of the Needs Assessment Survey between April 12 and April 15. All residents are urged to participate.
Parent And Tots Sports Program
The Recreation and Parks Department is please to offer a program dedicated to parents and tots. The US Sports Institute’s Parent and Tot Program will introduce 2 and 3-year-olds to a variety of sports, games and group activities, all with the help of a parent. This seven-week program, open to residents of the Village of Garden City, will be available on Thursdays beginning April 18 according to the following times:
10 to 10:45 a.m. $95
11 to 11:45 a.m. $95
Noon to 12:45 p.m. $95

Summer Camp Schedule
To give parents a chance to plan ahead, here is a list of camps, by week, that the Department of Recreation and Parks will offer and the age/grade grouping for each. This schedule is for planning purposes only. Registration will start by mail only on Friday, April 19. At that time we will announce times and prices as well as how to register. Please note that all camps run Monday through Thursday, that the grade span listed is grade entering in September, and with any age grouping the child must by that age by the start of the session.

Roller Hockey
As the recreation department gets closer to the debut of its brand new roller rink at Community Park, officials are happy to announce the various programs that will be offered for the upcoming spring season.
** Please Note This is informational only. All prices & registration information will be announced at a later date. **
All participants are required to supply full equipment to engage in our various programs. This includes:
Hockey helmet with a cage (lacrosse and bike helmets will not be allowed), Hockey gloves, Shin pads, Elbow pads, Hockey stick, Roller blades, Protective cup, Long pants (No shorts allowed)
Learn & Play Clinic
(Kindergarten):
Sunday from 1:45 to 2:45 p.m.
Designed as a beginner program for the youngest hockey participants, this hour-long clinic introduces the basics of roller skating along with the basic fundamentals of the game of hockey. No previous experience is required in either roller skating or the game of hockey to join this program.
Squirts (1st Grade):
Sunday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.
Designed as a continuation of the beginner program, this hour-long program will continue to have young athletes participate in various drills that will enhance skating and the basic hockey fundamentals, adding scrimmages each session. This program will be half clinic format and the other half will be scrimmage games.
Pee Wee (2nd And 3rd Grade):
Mondays from 4 and 5:15 p.m.
All participants will be placed on a team and participate in a game of roller hockey each week. Players should have previous experience in skating and a general knowledge of basic fundamentals of the game. Emphasis is placed on team play and good sportsmanship.
Mites (4th And 5th Grade):
Fridays from 4:30 and 5:45 p.m.
All participants will be placed on a team and participate in a game of roller hockey each week. All players should be able to skate and have knowledge of the rules and all the fundamentals of the game. In this division, off-sides is introduced. Similar to the Pee Wee division, emphasis is placed on team play and good sportsmanship.
Juniors (6th, 7th And 8th Grade):
Mondays from 6:30 p.m. & 7:45 p.m.
All participants will be placed on a team and participate in a game of roller hockey each week. In this division, off-sides is called so it essential all players understand the game. Emphasis is placed on being a good team player and good sportsmanship.
Seniors
(9th, 10th And 11th Grade):
Fridays at 7p.m.
Pick up games will be set up each session where high school-aged kids can participate in a fun game of roller hockey. All games will be supervised by the hockey staff.
Adults (35 And Over):
Fridays at 8:15 p.m.
Pick up games at set up each session where adults (35 & over) can participate in a fun game of roller hockey. All games will be supervised by the hockey staff.
