Balance. It’s often a key component to success in life and for the Garden City High School baseball team, it’s certainly what was at the heart of a recent 12-game winning streak and an overall record of 13-2 as of press time. Between the fact the Trojans’ batting lineup has been averaging a tick over 8 runs a game while their counterparts in the rotation have been stingily giving up less than 3 runs per seven innings, it’s no surprise that the squad is poised for an eventual showdown with divisional heavyweights the Wantagh Warriors. Full-on credit goes to Manager Rich Smith, whose three-pronged approach of solid defense, shutdown pitching and lethal hitting just might bring another conference championship to Garden City.
