Obituary: Francis W. Benner

Francis W. Benner, “Frank”, of Monroe, CT, died Saturday, May 4, 2013, after a short battle with pancreatic cancer. Frank was born in Brooklyn, NY to parents, William and Mary (Siwinski) Benner. He attended Bishop Laughlin HS and Manhattan College. He served in the Army during the Vietnam War from 1969 to 1971 in both Saigon and Cambodia as a translator. Returning from the war, Frank graduated at the top in his class from Fordham Law School. After a career start in NYC, he moved to the Bridgeport area, where he has been a practicing attorney for the past 20 years. Frank was an avid NY Yankee fan, having worked in the old stadium to pay for college.

He is survived by his beloved son Nicholas, his sister Denise Benner, his ex-wife and friend Donna Benner, niece Lauren Grymek, nephews Will and Greg Hall, many cousins and wonderful friends. Frank’s good heart, generous spirit and dry sense of humor will be greatly missed by those whose lives he touched.
