The Plainview JFK Hawks boys lacrosse team fell to the Port Washington Vikings, 11-2, last Wednesday afternoon in the second round of quarterfinal games played at Shuart Stadium at Hofstra Unviersity.
Approaching halftime down 5-0, Midfielder Joseph Trentacosta scored the Plainview’s first goal with two minutes remaining in the second quarter. Port Washington struck back with two more goals early in the third, and Plainview scored their second and final goal before heading into the final quarter.
“I’m happy with the way our season went, we had great success,” Hawks head coach Chris Rogler said. “I didn’t want it to end last night, [but] we would have had to play perfectly to win.”
Rogler commended the Vikings’ head coach Tom Rooney and the rest of his staff: “They were in the drivers seat throughout the game, and there is only so much my goalie (Alex Seltzer) can do” Rogler said. “They have big time players.”
Plainview’s Alex Seltzer had 15 saves and Port Washington’s Nicky Ferraro had six saves.
The Hawks entered the playoffs seeded sixth in Nassau Conference I, and Port Washington faced Syosset this past Wednesday at Hofstra in the semi-finals.
