Bonsai Day
The Cornell Cooperative Extension of Nassau County presents Bonsai Day on May 25 at East Meadow Farm, 832 Merrick Avenue in East Meadow from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Award-winning bonsai displays, and Bonsai Society of Greater New York experts will be available to answer questions. Parade Announcement
On May 27, the United Veterans of Hicksville will hold the annual Memorial Day Parade and ceremonies. The parade will step off at 9 a.m. from the Sears parking lot. It will turn left and head south along Broadway to Old Country Road. At Old Country Road it will turn west until it reaches Jerusalem Avenue. At Jerusalem Avenue it will turn south and proceed to 4th Street where it will end by the Hicksville Middle School. At approximately 10:30 a.m., the Memorial Day ceremonies will take place at the Middle School’s Veterans Memorial Park.

Golf Outing
Crossroads Restaurant Golf Outing to benefit the Michael Magro Foundation on May 28. Registration at 8:30 a.m. at Tam O’Shanter Club, Fruitledge Road, Brookville. Cost is $200 per person. There will be a continental breakfast at 9 a.m. and a barbecue lunch at noon. Enjoy dinner back at Crossroads located at 646 South Broadway, in Hicksville. Fire Department History
The Hicksville Historical Society is proud to present Ex Chief Owen Magee, 57-year member of the Hicksville Fire Department, to give a talk on the history, establishment and operations of the Hicksville Fire Dept. The earliest fire company dates back to 1869. Program on May 29 at 7:15 p.m. at the Hicksville Library’s Ken Barnes Community Room. Refreshments will be served. Senior ID Program
Senator Kemp Hannon joins Senator Charles Fuschillo and Nassau County Executive Ed Mangano in announcing a free Senior ID Program at the Farmingdale Library on June 5. The program will take place from noon to 4 p.m. Senior citizens, aged 60 and above, can come to the Farmingdale Library to get a free, wallet-sized, ID card. The card includes personal contact information, photo, emergency contact name and phone number, and helpful emergency phone numbers.
