LIPA Proposal Hearings Set for This Week

Two public hearings are scheduled for this week on Long Island to discuss Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s proposal to restructure the Long Island Power Authority in the wake of Superstorm Sandy.

The hearing will be lead by members of Cuomo’s administration, the Moreland Commission on Utility Storm Preparation and Response that investigated utilities storm response and PSEG, which is taking over for National Grid as LIPA’s contractor.

The first hearing will be at SUNY Old Westbury in the Student Union Center Building at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday. Another hearing will be held at the Western Suffolk BOCES Conference Center, 31 Lee Ave. in Wheatley Heights at 6:30 p.m. Thursday.
