Brittany Wilson, a senior at Island Trees High School (ITHS), has already demonstrated the qualities of a born leader. Elected senior class president, Wilson was the president of the National Honor Society and the Yearbook Club, Varsity Cheerleading Team Captain, and a peer leader. Her 90-plus grade point average has earned her a spot on the honor roll and in the Foreign Language Honor Society, while her overall affability and infectious spirit made her a shoe-in for Homecoming Queen.
“Brittany Wilson is an absolutely amazing individual,” wrote her Education Partner Award nominator, Lori Christensen. “Her enthusiasm is contagious. With her altruistic spirit and devotion, Ms. Wilson touches so many lives and makes them better. She is a role model and the epitome of the perfect student.”
Wilson was selected for the Education Partner Award for 2013. The Education Partner Award recognizes those individuals or organizations who have made a substantial impact on public education in Nassau County.
“Through this innovative program, everyone who has ever been influenced by public education has an opportunity to show their appreciation by nominating outstanding candidates for the award,” says Dr. Thomas Rogers, Nassau BOCES district superintendent. “With the addition of five award categories, we’re assured the honorees come from all walks of life and reflect the diversity that is Nassau BOCES. Their work encourages the development of lifelong learners and global citizens, which mirrors our goals as we build the BOCES of the future.”
