Nassau’s Great Free Summer Entertainment

I am so very proud of our parks system and all we have to offer in our great county. This summer we have an action-packed lineup of quality entertainment, and the best part is that most events are free for Nassau County residents.

My efforts to create tourism, coupled with the immense support from local business sponsors, makes it possible to bring top-notch events like the TD fireworks spectacular to you at no charge.

So get your lawn chair ready and mark your calendar for some good old-fashioned, free park entertainment.

We are once again hosting Show Wagon Shows at Wantagh Park on Thursdays in August.  Starting at 7:30p.m. on Aug. 1, we will have Six Gun.

On Saturday, Aug. 3, ceremonies honoring our armed services past and present begin at 6:45p.m. at the Harry Chapin Lakeside Theatre in Eisenhower Park. USO Liberty Bells open the show with a special patriotic performance. Tony Orlando then takes the stage with his chart-topping songs including “Tie a Yellow Ribbon” and “Knock Three Times.”

In Eisenhower Park, our International Music series marches on with Chinese American Night on Sunday, Aug.4, and Irish American Night on Aug. 5. These free events begin at 7:30 p.m.

The International Music Nights Concert Series is a great Nassau County tradition, with nearly two dozen nights dedicated to music and culture that honors a range of ethnic groups.  So come enjoy the park, music and culture all summer long.

On Wednesdays we continue our free Noontime Summer Concert Series in Eisenhower Park. On Aug. 7, we welcome My Way – Tribute to Sinatra.

Also, this summer on Thursday evenings we are continuing our Family Movie Nights at Lakeside Theatre in Eisenhower Park. Beginning at dusk, family-friendly films will be shown on the big screen, including Ice Age: Continental Drift on Aug. 1 and Rise of the Guardians on Aug. 8.
