Over the Hill Gang Report: August 1, 2013

The Over the Hill Gang Softball league is holding its annual Charity Night on Friday, Aug. 2 at Allen Park on Motor Avenue in Farmingdale. Proceeds from this year’s event will go to a sweet baby named ElieAnna. She was born with a rare liver disease. She has already undergone several surgeries including a liver transplant and is being treated for a serious post operative condition. EllieAnna’s mom grew up in Farmingdale and her dad is a U.S. Marine. The festivities begin at 7 p.m. and will include music, refreshments and raffles.

In game action last  Friday, Zwanger-Pesiri Radiology picked up a much-needed win with a 27-7 victory over McCourt & Trudden Funeral Home. M&T played with only three outfielders, which helped ZP find some open spaces,  but ZP’s bats were hot regardless. The team banged out 30 hits. Jerry Mazza had four.

Tommy Dittmeier, Bino Reverberi, Sean O’Flynn, and Anthony Nicolich had three hits. John Hernandez, Russ Graham, Tyrone Clark, John DeFalco, Brian Tinney and Peter Mendelson chipped in two hits a-piece.

Pitcher Tinney was helped with several infield double plays, O’Flynn at 3rd, Graham at shortstop and both Hernandez and Nicolich at 2nd base all played well. Dittmeier had a brief cup of coffee at first base and appears to be welcoming his return to the outfield next week.
