A 58-year-old Ridge man was killed when he crashed the taxi cab he was driving in Setauket early Friday morning.

Suffolk County police said Wayne Bracone was driving a cab for Islandwide Taxi westbound on Main Street when the Ford struck a utility pole near the corner of Gnarled Hollow Road at 2:10 a.m.

Bracone was pronounced dead at the scene.

Sixth Squad detectives impounded the vehicle, are continuing the investigation and ask anyone with information to call them at 631-854-8652 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
