Among the list of top finishers on the Aug. 17th Inaugural Discover Hicksville Run was 19-year-old Megan McCarthy of Levittown who took home the second place award plaque in the women’s 15-19 age group. McCarthy reached the finish line in 41 minutes, 30 seconds, a 8:18 per mile pace.
The Hicksville Chamber of Commerce and the Greater Long Island Running Club collaborated on what turned out to be one of the highlights of the Long Island running and racing summer – the inaugural Discover Hicksville 5 Kilometer Run.
Starting and finishing at Cantiague Park, more than 200 runners enjoyed a great race through the streets of northwest Hicksville, and a terrific post-race Barbeque (hot dogs, hamburgers, beer, ice cream, baked goods courtesy of All Round Foods, and all the trimmings!). Fifty-five youngsters took part in the 1/4 mile Fun Run that preceded the main event.
