Cosmos honor the Island’s
soccer sensations
The New York Cosmos recognized 15 of the Plainview-based Long Island Junior Soccer League teams in a pre-game ceremony on the field prior to their game against the San Antonio Scorpions at James M. Shuart Stadium on the campus of Hofstra University on Saturday, August 24.
Dubbed “LIJSL Champions Night,” the event honored local LIJSL teams that won Premier League and State Cup championships this year. Two teams that advanced to the U.S. Youth Soccer national championships in Overland Park, Kansas this summer were also recognized — the Dix Hills Elite, national finalists in the Boys Under-15 division, and the Smithtown Arsenal, Boys U-16 national champions.

Girls U-15 Brentwood Pride – State Cup Champions
Girls U-16 Farmingdale United – State Cup Champions
Girls U-18 Albertson Silver Premier 94 Fury – State Cup Champions
Girls U-12 Smithtown Crimson Tide – Premier League Champions
Girls U-13 South Merrick Lady Cyclones – Premier League Champions
Girls U-14 Farmingdale Shamrocks – Premier League Champions
Girls U-17 Bayport Lady Hurricanes – Premier League Champions
