Daughters of the British Empire 

The Levittown Historical Society hosts the legacy organization of British immigrants dedicated to promoting British-American relations and cultural exchange. Sept. 16, at 7:30 p.m. at the Levittown Public Library. 

Friday, September 20

Levittown Idol V 

The Levittown Historical Society hosts its annual youth talent contest for children of the Levittown and Island Trees school districts. Sept. 20 from 1 to 5 p.m. at Levittown Hall, Levittown Parkway in Hicksville. 

Veterans Barbecue

Nassau County will host the third annual veterans’ barbecue, rain or shine on Sept. 20 at Eisenhower Park, parking field 6. Lunch will be served and entertainment will include a live band. Long Island County Fair 

Old Bethpage Village Restoration hosts New York State’s longest-running county fair on two consecutive weekends: from Friday, Sept. 20 through Sunday, Sept. 22, and again from Friday, Sept. 27, through Sunday, Sept. 29. Prize-winning vegetables, flowers, crafts, farm animals. Brass band concerts, traditional music, wagon and pony rides and more. For more information, call 516-571-8406.

Board of Education Meeting 

The next public session for the Island Trees Board of Education will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 25 at 7:30 p.m. All past and future meeting dates can be found on the district’s website, including meeting agendas and copies of each meeting’s minutes. Registration Deadline for Adult Ed  

It’s time to register for fall adult education courses, and classes fill quickly so don’t delay. Classes being offered this fall range from Magic As A Hobby to Understanding the U.S. Constitution, with new courses such as Put It Where You’ll Find It; All About Abs; and the simply titled Guitar. Mail registration form with payment to Levittown Adult Education, General Douglas MacArthur High School, 3369 Old Jerusalem Road, Levittown, 11756. You can register in person during normal school hours: Monday-Thursday 11 to 2 p.m., in room 100B.

Cruise To The Car Show

Nassau County’s 4th Annual Cruise to the Show car parade, show and auction wheels into Eisenhower Park on Sept. 28 and Sept. 29. Classes For New Parents 

South Nassau Hospital is offering a variety of parent-child education classes and support groups for new parents. Sessions range from one hour to a full day, dealing with topics such as infant-child CPR, childbirth, maternity and breastfeeding, and sibling adjustment.
