Levittown Veteran Laid To Rest

The funeral for Levittown fire fighter Jason DeLauro, 32, was held on Sept. 13. DeLauro was killed in an accident that occurred on Sunrise Highway, near Horseblock Road in Yaphank at approximately 1 p.m. on Sept. 8. According to police, DeLauro pulled his 2005 Honda motorcycle over to the median; a car veered out of the westbound lane and struck him. DeLauro was pronounced dead at the scene. 

 

Emergency responders said the driver of the vehicle refused medical attention; the vehicle was impounded for investigation. Police said no charges had been filed. 

 

From the Levittown Fire Department: Jason DeLauro was born on June 6, 1982 and joined the Levittown Fire Department on June 7, 2000, the day after his 18th birthday, giving him 13 years in the Levittown Fire Department. 

 

During his 13 years of service Jason was a member of Ladder Company 1 and Engine Company 3 and served as company secretary for both companies. He joined the Air Force in October 2009 and graduated from Lackland Air Force Base with distinguished honors. 

 

Jason was then was stationed in West Hampton. During his time with the Air Force Jason attended tech school at Keesler Air Force Base and then returned to West Hampton. 

 

Jason will be remembered by his parents Bob and Pam and his younger brother Justin.
