A Night Of Bunko

The New Hyde Park North Lions will present A Night of Bunko on Friday, Sept. 27 at 7 p.m. at the Marcus Christ/New Hyde Park Village Hall – 1420 Jericho Turnpike.  Coffee and dessert will be served – donation is $10.

For more information, please call 516-352-3013.  The Lions will be collecting donations of non-perishable food, paper goods or toiletries for the local pantries.

Post 144 Installation Dinner

American Legion Post 144 will hold its Annual Installation Dinner on Saturday, Sept. 28 at the Legion Hall located at 730 Willis Avenue, Williston Park. Cocktails at 6 p.m. will be followed by the formal Installation Ceremony of Commander Frank Oliveri and his staff at 7 p.m. The installation will be followed by a dinner catered by Skalberg Caterers with an open ban, music and dancing.  Tickets are $25 per person. Contact Don Sassano at 516-747-3945 for ticket and seating information. Cut off date is Sept. 19. No tickets will be sold at the door.

Walk For Hunger

Notre Dame Parish will host its 32nd annual Walk for Hunger to support World Hunger Day on Oct. 26. 

Coffee With Candidates

Temple Tikvah at 3315 Hillside Avenue in New Hyde Park will hold a “Coffee with the Candidates” on Sunday, Sept. 29 from 10:30 a.m. to noon. Columbus Day Dinner Dance

Albertson VFW Post No. 5253 will hold its Annual Columbus Day Dinner Dance on Sunday, Oct. 13, 2 to 6 p.m. at the VFW Hall at 155 Searingtown Road. A hot buffet dinner, along with coffee and dessert will be available and live music from The Vic Vincent Group. Reservations are required, $40 per person. Make checks payable to the Albertson post. Weekly Events

•Boy Scout Troop 200 Of Williston Park meets every Monday between 7:30 p.m. and 9 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church located at Willis Ave. and Winthrop St., Williston Park. Boys 11 to 17 are welcome to join.

 

•Irish American Society Social Gatherings every Monday at the Irish American Center, 297 Willis Ave., Mineola, from noon to 3 p.m. In the tradition and mission of the Irish American Society, we are here to make all welcome and be part of the local community. Bring lunch. Coffee and tea will be served. Play cards, board games or just sit and socialize. A film once a month. Ladies and gents welcome. Free to all. •Farmer’s Markets are held every Saturday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Come buy local produce, breads, pickles and other goods at the municipal parking lot on Jericho Turnpike just west of New Hyde Park Road, across from Village Hall. Rain or shine until Novemeber. 

Monthly Events

•AARP #1868 Williston Park area meets on the first Monday of the month at 1:30 p.m. at the American Legion Post No. 144 Hall at 730 Willis Avenue in Williston Park Coffee and cake following meeting. New members welcome. Call 742-0465 for more information.

 

•Relapse Prevention Support Groups are held by the LI Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence on Tuesdays from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. in its Williston Park Office, 207 Hillside Ave. Groups are facilitated by professional staff trained to help you or a loved one successfully transition from inpatient treatment back home or into a sober living environment. Aftercare and support following substance abuse treatment is an essential part of maintaining sobriety and creating a strong foundation for recovery. Call Jeffrey L. •Gam-Anon Support Group holds an anonymous meeting for spouses, adult children over 18, family and friends of those whose lives have been affected by a gambling problem.
