The 13th annual Bayville Waterside Festival was held at Ransom Beach in Bayville on Sept. 14 and 15, giving residents a reason to get outdoors and enjoy the last official weekend of summer. Though the weather was on the cooler side, particularly on Saturday, people from all around Bayville and surrounding communities came out to enjoy local food, vendors, music and games for the kids, with the glorious beach view as a backdrop to the fair.
“The weather was beautiful, the music was great and the food was wonderful,” said Vincent Moscato, president of the Bayville Chamber of Commerce.
Hosted by the Bayville Chamber of Commerce for the sixth year, the annual fair known as the “Clam Jam” attracts vendors from around the North Shore, including the North Oyster Bay Baymen’s Association who proudly sell clams and oysters and Gooseberry Grove’s offering of sweet treats. The event used to be organized by the village before the Chamber of Commerce took over. This year, more than 70 vendors were involved.
One couple from Syosset was enjoying the day with their grandson, noting that it was their first time at the festival, and that it had been awhile since they had gotten to Bayville.
The weekend’s activities and attractions included a petting zoo, music by local classic rockers 6Gun5, and a 50/50 raffle.
Chamber member Mike Carrozza, of Bayville Wines, said the event was very well-attended.
“It was one of the more successful events in recent years,” he said.
The money made by the chamber is used to provide scholarships to Locust Valley High School students and for the annual Breakfast with Santa event held in the winter.
“All the money that comes in goes back into the community,” said Carrozza.
Moscato said he was very pleased with the turnout.
“We’re looking forward to doing it again next year,” he said.
