Suffolk County police are investigating the discovery of a 23-year-old Huntington Station woman’s dead body at a preserve in West Hills on Thursday morning, authorities said.
A passerby called 911 after finding Sarah Strobel dead in the woods off a hiking trail at Froehlich Farm Nature Preserve on Oakwood Road shortly before 9 a.m., police said.
“The case appears to be criminal,” said Det. Lt. Jack Fitzpatrick, commander of the Homicide Squad.
Her body was taken to the Suffolk County Medical Examiner’s office, where an autopsy will be conducted to determine her cause of death.
