Letter: Elect Ellen Birnbaum

As a friend and neighbor of Ellen Birnbaum for over 20 years, I have seen her grow and flourish into a wonderful representative of our community who has the best interest of us all at heart.  For that reason, I am proud to support her as a candidate for Nassau County Legislature in the 10th District.

Ellen has lived in Nassau County her entire life and in Great Neck for 32 years.  She has the pulse of the community at her fingertips and is fully immersed in all of the important issues in our neighborhood. I have always found Ellen to be someone who you can count on to “get the job done.”

Her ability to assess situations and the inner-workings of government make her outstandingly qualified for this position.  This relates to her current position as Director of the Office of Intermunicipal Coordination at the Town of North Hempstead.  She has worked extremely hard to bring all layers of government to the table so they can work together and cut costs by sharing services.  That is something that we desperately need on the county level, as the County is currently under the guise of a financial control board.

Ellen has also made it clear to me that she is strongly against the closure of the Sixth police precinct.  Public safety is paramount to Ellen and she will work to re-open the precinct to restore proper safety and security for all of us.

Ellen is a true leader of the people and I encourage you to vote for her for Nassau County Legislator in the 10th district on Nov. 5. The district includes all of Great Neck, a small portion of Manhasset and the areas within the Herricks School District.
