Long Island Aquatic Club recently announced that Plainview residents Moca Tanaka and Zoe Katevatis have qualified to compete at the National Age Group Challenge Meet. These athletes are two of 67 LIAC swimmers invited to attend this prestigious competition.
This is the fifth year that LIAC has qualified swimmers to race in the meet. The LIAC athletes will compete in single age groups against swimmers from all over the east coast. In 2011 LIAC had 90 individual swims in the top 8. After being sidelined by Hurricane Sandy in 2012, the coaches and swimmers look forward to returning to the competition and improving on that performance this year.
National Age Group Challenge will be held November 2 and 3 in Germantown, Maryland. Results of the meet can be found live on LIAC’s website www.longislandswimming.com.
