Oyster Bay Bayville Generals Going Strong

The latest recaps on how the teams are doing:

5- and 6-Year-Old Generals

The 5- and 6-year-olds had a rough time against the Elmont Cardinals as the Cardinals’ speed proved to be a little too much for the Generals, winning with a final score of 28-7. The high winds shut down the Generals’ aerial attack, but Patrick Kelly got the running game going behind the blocking of Zach Spinelli and John Arato.  Despite the difference in speed the defense played strong after two early scores of each half by Elmont. Next week the Generals are prepared to take on Floral Park.

7- and 8-Year-Old Generals

The 7- to 8-year-old Generals won their first game of the year led by a strong offensive attack.

Bryce Kipnes led the team with 156 yards rushing on 8 carries and had two touchdowns. PJ Verdi and Michael DiLorenzo also had a touchdown each. Strong offensive line blocking (Olivieri TD block, Capozzi TD block and Lodati TD block) supported the strong rushing attack of which the Generals amassed 223 yards on the ground.

The General defense stood out as well with strong efforts across the team, (Verdi had four tackles, three assists and one caused fumble, Olivieri had two  tackles, three assists and one fumble recovery, and Bryce Kipnes had two tackles, four assists).

The 7- to 8-year-old Generals improved their record on the season to 1-4.

9-Year-Old Generals

The 9-year-olds were on a BYE this week. They will be back with Friday Night Lights in Centre Island 6 p.m.

10-Year-Old Generals

The 10-year-old OBB Generals lost to Garden City A team by a score of 26-6. Jake Van Velsor lead the way with 14 carries for a total of 59 yards including a 5-yard TD run. Luke Paniagua had eight carries for 58 yards, David Hill had four carries for 15 yards, Matthew Pisciotta had two carries for six yards

And Michael Gangi had two carries for four yards. Michael Nabavi had a big hit causing a fumble as Jake Van Velsor recovered in the third quarter. Luke Paniagua had 12 tackles, David Hill and Michael Nabavi had three tackles, Matthew Pisciotta had three tackles along with Aidan Carrozza, Liam Doran, James Hosey, Nathan Kearney, Sal Mangano and Ben Silver each had one tackle.

11-Year-Old Generals

It was a great day for the 11-year-old Generals Football squad last week in Bayville. Not only did the boys enjoy their introductions prior to the game but they went on to manhandle a tough Uniondale team 24-0 in an unfortunate shortened game.

The defense set the tone with a dominating performance. Early fumble recoveries by Matt Jones and Eddie Clark quieted the Uniondale offense.

Carlo Paz had his best game of the year with a 53-yard TD run and a 45-yard TD off a perfect screen play from Aidan Liantonio. Aidan Danenza also had a great game even though Uniondale was keying on him all day. He had a 4-yard TD run and a huge 79-yard pick six for a steak dinner.

Another great effort by the entire team.

The Generals Cheerleaders

Homecoming was a fantastic time. The General cheerleaders came with full spirit to show their pride in the football players. The pee wee team led the crowd in cheers that had fans clapping along. The midgets had fans stomping in the stands.  The seniors had the crowd swaying their bodies to the Generals’ beat. All squads performed an amazing half-time show and dance.
