It’s almost Thanksgiving and that means soon it will be time for turkey, pumpkin pie and yes, lacrosse! The Michael Magro Foundation will be holding their second annual “Thanksgiving Lacrosse Alumni Game” on Saturday, Nov. 30 at the Hicksville High School turf field. Last year’s event drew nearly 70 alumni participants and many other Hicksville residents. Organizers are hoping for an even better turn out this year and are also encouraging all women alumni to participate. The event, which is sponsored by MDP Lacrosse, is a charity lacrosse game for Hicksville Alumni who are in town for the holiday weekend and want to get together to generate donations for a worthy cause.
There will be a DJ, games of skill, T-shirts, refreshments and raffles. The game will be played at 3 p.m. Organizers are suggesting a $50 donation for all players. All proceeds will go to the Michael Magro Foundation.
Michael Magro was a 13-year-old seventh grade, Hicksville Middle School student who tragically died within months of being diagnosed with cancer. His passion for lacrosse will always be remembered and his spirit remains as part of the Hicksville community.
