Free Senior Citizen Performance Of Let’s Murder Marsha

All Jericho senior residents and senior organizations are cordially invited to a free preview of the dramatic comedy Let’s Murder Marsha by Monk Ferris about a loveable, mystery-reading woman who accidentally overhears her husband discuss her very own murder! Or did she? Come along on the wild ride of murders, birthdays and airplanes! The talented cast will host a small reception of coffee, tea, and cookies one half hour (9:30 a.m.) before the performance. The performance time is approximately two hours with a 15-minute intermission. Please RSVP by Friday, November 15 by leaving a message on the JHS drama hotline at 516-203-3600, ext. 3390. On the day of the performance please park in the 2nd HS circle by the attendance office entrance. This entrance is located on the north side of the High School and is handicapped accessible. Affordable Care Act Meeting

Assemblyman Charles Lavine hosts an informational meeting concerning the Affordable Care Act and the New York Health Benefit Exchange at the Plainview-Old Bethpage Library, 999 Old Country Rd., Nov. 21 from 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Trained experts will be on hand to provide information as well as answer questions about the new rules and regulations; how the ACA will impact you; protecting your rights under the law; financial assistance; strategies for acquiring quality and affordable health care coverage; connecting with the health care and health insurance plans best suited to your needs; and where to get additional information. Plainview-Old Bethpage’s JFK Students to Perform

Students enrolled in the Plainview-Old Bethpage Central School District’s John F. Kennedy High School drama program will perform a rendition of “Almost Maine,” a new romantic comedy written by John Cariani. This year’s fall play will be performed on Friday, Nov. 22 and Saturday, Nov. 23 at 8 p.m at Mattlin Middle School. Amission is $12 for tickets in advance, and $15 for tickets at the door.

1863 Thanksgiving Holiday Celebration

On Saturday, Nov. 23 and Sunday, Nov. 24, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Old Bethpage Village restoration will provide an old-fashioned Thanksgiving including decorated pumpkin pies baked in a beehive oven, and turkey roasted over an open fire. Each afternoon, Traditional Fiddle music will be played, and children’s stories will be read several times each day. Admission is $10 for adults, $7 for children (ages 5 – 12), seniors and volunteer firefighters. For more information, please call 516-572-8401.

Café Dilemma Lunch & Learn Series

The Mid-Island Y JCC, 45 Manetto Hill Rd., presents a different Rabbi from the community each week to teach a class on interesting and current topics from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. Hot beverages will be provide. Interfaith Thanksgiving Worship Service

An interfaith Thanksgiving worship service will be held at the Plainview Jewish Center, 95 Floral Dr. West, at 7:30 p.m. Clergy, congregations and children’s choirs from Plainview-Old Bethpage houses of worship will participate. A time for gathering and refreshments will follow the service. This is the seventh annual event sponsored by the Plainview-Old Bethpage Interfaith Clergy Council, which asks attendees to bring canned and non-perishable food items for donation to Long Island Cares. Community Chanukah Spectacular

All are invited to attend the annual Town of Oyster Bay Chabad Chanukah celebration, a yearly family event held at the Plainview Shopping Center, South Oyster Bay Road and Woodbury Road in Plainview from 5:15 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. This year, witness the astounding feats of Cardone, the Ultimate Vaudevillian. Cardone amazes audiences with magic, ventriloquism, illusion, escape artistry, mind-reading, humor, pantomime and audience participation. Cardone’s show will take place in a heated tent near The Children’s Place. Also featured will be music, latkes, donuts and pizza, celebrating the joy of Chanukah. The highlight iof the event will be the Grand Menorah lighting, taking place in the walkway between Shoprite and the shopping center. Chanukah Service

Temple B’nai Torah, 2900 Jerusalem Avenue, and Oakfield Avenue will celebrate a community Chanukah service on Friday,  Nov. 29 at 7:30 p.m. Everyone is asked to bring their Menorah and four candles: one for the first two nights of Chanukah, and one for the shamash, also known as the service candle, used to light the other candles on the menorah. Hear the story of the Maccabees, and the magic of the small amount of oil that lasted for eight days.

Babies And BimBam

A fun, interactive class is coming up at HANC of Plainview for children turning 2 by December 31. Cost is $50 for six classes, or pay-as-you-go for $10 per class. Classes will be meeting on Friday mornings from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. For more information, contact shecht@hanc.org, or call 681-5922.

Miscarriage Support Group

A safe, confidential, supportive environment in which to talk about what you have been through, your reactions and feelings, and how to move forward. You are not alone! Facilitated by a professional therapist. Meetings held on three consecutive Tuesday evenings at 8 p.m. in the Hicksville-Plainview area. $60 for three meetings. Free Veterinary Lectures

Once a month through December, Long Island Cat Fanciers sponsors free lectures given by top local veterinarians on topics relevant to dog and cat owners. All members of the public are welcome to. Non-Profit Support Group: Clutterers Anonymous (CLA)

A 12-step self-help group, offers help and support to those who have clutter problems in their homes or workplace. Meets at the following locations: Thursdays, 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the United Methodist Church, 265 Asbury Ave, Westbury first and third Friday, 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the School of the Community Reformed Church, 90 Plandome Rd, Manhasset. Plainview Lions Club Meeting

Serving the Plainview-Old Bethpage and Bethpage communities since 1957, the Lions Club holds dinner meetings on the second Wednesday of every month through July. The Lions Club strives to make a difference in local communities and encourages residents to come in and voice thier concerns.
