The Women’s Club of Farmingdale met on Thursday, November 7th at Allen Park. A meeting usually set aside to acknowledge past and present presidents of various Chapters of Women’s Club. Invitations are sent in advance, for members to attend our November meeting, which was postponed from last November because of Hurricane Sandy. We had a wonderful turnout of guests including various Women’s Club dignitaries from the General Federation of Women’s Clubs and the Long Island Federation. Rosemary Emigholz and her committee—consisting of Valerie Thieke, Fran Rotondo, Cheryl Parisi, Rosemary Trudden, Anna Ievolo, Angela Ditullio, Mary Ann Ferrara, Ann Ciuffo and Ann Lomonte—did an excellent job of making and catering a buffet luncheon with desserts. Throughout the luncheon members were serenaded by Jack Cottiell on the keyboard.
Attending the luncheon were President Maria Ortolani and past presidents Jane Monaghan 1980-1982, Loda Romanelli 1984-1986, Joan Vallarella 1986-1988, Nancy Giminaro 1988-1990, Rosemary Trudden 1994-1996, Florence Kaufold 1998-2000, Ellen Acinapuro 2000-2002, Fran Rotondo 2004-2006, Dolores Cianciabella 2006-2008 and Barbara Hoerner 2008 to 2012. Ann Lomonte presented Maria Ortolani with a beautiful bouquet in honor of President’s Day.
A prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance was led by Bea Ferrari. President Maria Ortolani welcomed members and guests. A short business meeting followed. Minutes read by Cheryl Parisi, Treasurers report given by Dru Brem and correspondence by Rosemary Emigholz. Ways and means chairwoman announced a fundraiser coming up “A Night at the Races”. More information will be forthcoming.
