American Artists
Professional League
recognizes Forziat
The American Artists Professional League (AAPL) has selected “Admiring A Florentine Street Performer,” an oil painting by Garden City fine artist Lillian Forziat to be included in its 85th Annual Grand National Exhibition. Usually this event takes place in the prestigious galleries of the Salmagundi Club on Fifth Avenue in Manhattan, but the club has been undergoing significant renovations, so this year’s exhibition is being held online through Dec. 30 and may be viewed at www.americanartistsprofessionalleague.org
The AAPL was established back in 1928 at the Salmagundi Club to advance the cause of fine arts in America through promotion of high standards of beauty, integrity and craftsmanship in painting sculpture and graphic arts particularly with regard to traditional realism. Each year hundreds of applicants from all fifty states in all media submit their work for review by a selection committee consisting of professional artists in the fields of oil, water media, pastel, graphics and sculpture.
The Salmagundi Club was founded in 1871 and is one of the oldest art organizations in the United States. Named after Washington Irving’s potpourri of wit and wisdom, The Salmagundi Papers, the club features three galleries, a library, period parlor, and restaurant, a collection of more than 1,500 works of art, and fosters an atmosphere of conviviality that encourages discussions of art, painting demonstrations and classes, exhibitions and art auctions throughout the year much in the honored tradition of the Salons of Paris during the Age of Enlightenment.
Lillian Forziat recently concluded her outdoor art festival season, which included jury selected opportunities in nationally ranked venues in Virginia, Delaware, Rhode Island, New Jersey and New York. Today marks the culmination of the Catharine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club’s (CLWAC) 117th Annual National Fine Art Exhibition, which featured her still life oil painting “Echo” at the National Arts Club in Manhattan.
Lillian Forziat’s still life and floral oil paintings done in an elegant soft-spoken traditional realistic style have long been well received by collectors. More recently she has branched out into seascapes, landscapes, and cityscapes, which have been equally well received. “I am inspired by the beauty of everyday subjects in serene settings. My passion to discover and enjoy their special essences compels me to put brush to canvas. Sharing what I see and feel with others is a delight.” “Admiring A Florentine Street Performer” and many more of Lillian Forziat’s fine art oil paintings may be seen at http://www.lillianforziat.com
