Community Chanukah Spectacular
All are invited to attend the annual Town of Oyster Bay Chabad Chanukah celebration, a yearly family event held at the Plainview Shopping Center, South Oyster Bay Road and Woodbury Road in Plainview from 5:15 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. This year, witness the astounding feats of Cardone, the Ultimate Vaudevillian.Cardone amazes audiences with magic, ventriloquism, illusion, escape artistry, mind-reading, humor, pantomime and audience participation. Cardone’s show will take place in a heated tent near The Children’s Place. Also featured will be music, latkes, donuts and pizza, celebrating the joy of Chanukah. The highlight iof the event will be the Grand Menorah lighting, taking place in the walkway between Shoprite and the shopping center. Chanukah Service
Temple B’nai Torah, 2900 Jerusalem Avenue, and Oakfield Avenue will celebrate a community Chanukah service on Friday, Nov. 29 at 7:30 p.m. Everyone is asked to bring their Menorah and four candles: one for the first two nights of Chanukah, and one for the shamash, also known as the service candle, used to light the other candles on the menorah. Hear the story of the Maccabees, and the magic of the small amount of oil that lasted for eight days.

Christmas Tree Sale
St. Edward the Confessor School, 2 Teibrook Ave. in Syosset, invites families to its annual tree sale beginning at 9 a.m. Dec. 2. This long-standing tradition is a fundraiser for the school and includes high quality Frazer Balsam Hyrbrid trees and wreaths. Hours are 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on weekends and 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on weekdays.

Chanukah Extravaganza
The Jewish Heritage Center and the Hebrew Academy of Nassau County in Plainview invite the entire family to a Chanukah Extravaganza on Dec. 3 at HANC, 25 Country Dr., at 6:30 p.m. This festive party features something for everyone, including a Menorah lighting, Chanukah challenge and a live sushi bar. World Series of Dreidels
The 6th annual World Series of Dreidels Spin and Win comes to the Mid-Island Y JCC, 45 Manetto Hill Rd., Dec. 4. The fun starts at 6:15 p.m. with feast of pizza, salad and snacks. The Dreidel spinning tournament kicks off a short time later at 6:45 p.m. Family members receive gelt and a chance to spin until someone wins. The champion will receive a trophy and a grand prize gift. Other games and extra snacks will be available to those who are eliminated. The event costs $9 for adult members and $7 for child members, and $15 for adult non-members and $10 for child non-members. Trees of Love Lighting Ceremony
The Last Hope Animal Rescue continues a holiday tradition it began in 1998 with the Trees of Love Christmas tree ligting ceremony on Dec. 14 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Last Hope Adoption Center, 3300 Beltagh Ave. in Wantagh. Prior to the lighting of two decorated trees, participants can purchase ribbons for $10 each. Gold ribbons honor living pets and red ribbons memoralize late pets. Pets’ names are written on the ribbons and will be placed on the trees. A third tree is decorated in green ribbons only, but these are to remember the countless discarded pets throughout the country euthanized each year at overcrowded shelters. Supporters can also purchase these symbolic ribbons. All “Trees of Love” proceeds benefit Last Hope’s rescued dogs and cats plus our community outreach programs such as Fix-A-Feral. Miscarriage Support Group
A safe, confidential, supportive environment in which to talk about what you have been through, your reactions and feelings, and how to move forward. You are not alone! Free Veterinary Lectures
Once a month through December, Long Island Cat Fanciers sponsors free lectures given by top local veterinarians on topics relevant to dog and cat owners. All members of the public are welcome to. Non-Profit Support Group: Clutterers Anonymous (CLA)
A 12-step self-help group, offers help and support to those who have clutter problems in their homes or workplace. Meets at the following locations: Thursdays, 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the United Methodist Church, 265 Asbury Ave, Westbury first and third Friday, 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the School of the Community Reformed Church, 90 Plandome Rd, Manhasset. Plainview Lions Club Meeting
Serving the Plainview-Old Bethpage and Bethpage communities since 1957, the Lions Club holds dinner meetings on the second Wednesday of every month through July. The Lions Club strives to make a difference in local communities and encourages residents to come in and voice thier concerns.
