The Great Neck Public Schools Board of Education accepted the 2012-2013 report from the school district’s independent auditor. The accounting firm of Cullen & Danowski, LLP is the independent auditor for the Great Neck Public Schools and its most recent report terms the school district’s fiscal year 2012-2013 as “excellent.” The report finds that no areas need improvement.
Presented to the Board of Education members at the school board’s Nov. 18 public action meeting, the report adds that the board is “ever-successful” at staying within the two percent state-mandated tax cap, remaining “fiscally responsible” while still producing an “excellent program” for the children of the school district.
Such an independent audit is required as part of New York State education law; the State Education Department commissioner’s regulations require an annual audit by an independent auditor. That form, prescribed by the commissioner of education, must be filed by the Board of Education with the state and with the Department of Audit and Control, with an exact copy of the acceptance resolution passed by the Board of Education.
Following the review, the Board of Education accepted the independent audit report and authorized the report to be transmitted, along with the administration’s corrective action plan, to the appropriate state agencies.
