Elizabeth (Betsy) Hyde Patterson, 78, resident of Port Washington 1970 through 2010, passed away on Nov. 12, in Dallas, TX, where she had been living.
She was born in Coronado, CA, on Nov. 8, 1935. She graduated from Sidwell Friends High School in 1954 and earned her Bachelors of Art from Cornell University in 1958 and her Masters in Occupational Therapy from Tufts University in 1960.
She was married to Albert Allen Patterson for 51 years, who died on June 29, 2011.
She is survived by her sister Mary Millard, her brother, Ralph Hyde and her children, Christopher Patterson (Boca Raton, FL), Mariquita Gordon (Dallas, TX), Jonathan Patterson (Wilson, WY) and grandchildren, Mackenzie and Mariel (Dallas, TX). Memorial services will be held in Dallas, TX on Nov. 26, 2013 and in Quogue, NY on a later date.
Betsy loved the ocean and the mountains. She was an active volunteer in the community, working with the Cow Neck Peninsula Historical Society, the Girl Scouts of Nassau County, the AAUW (American Association of University), North Shore Hospital, the Plandome Women’s Club and the North Shore Garden Club.
