Last month, the North Shore Family & Child Guidance Center hosted the 60th Anniversary Diamond & Dancing Gala at The Garden City Hotel. More than 350 guests enjoyed a spectacular celebration that raised $445,000 for the organization.
This year’s honorees were Diane, Michael, Bradley and Matthew Gross of Garden City’s H.L. Gross & Bro. Jewelers in Garden City and Sands Point’s Jo-Ellen Hazan, past president of the Guidance Center board of directors.
Guests were entertained by five community leaders and their professional dancing partners:
Cara Castronuova, celebrity fitness trainer, champion boxer, founder, “Knockout Obesity, Inc.” Charity; Arnold Gumowitz, AAG Management Inc.; Robin Magliato, professional dance instructor; Hon. Jack Martins, New York State Senate; and Stacey Scarpone, Women’s Fund of Long Island.
Well-known sportscaster and author Len Berman was the evening’s emcee and Christopher Robbins of Robbins Wolfe Eventeurs served as the live auctioneer.
Founded in 1953, North Shore Child & Family Guidance Center is the pre-eminent not-for-profit children’s mental health agency on Long Island. Dedicated to strengthening the emotional well-being of children and families, the Guidance Center leads the way in diagnosis, treatment, prevention, training, parent education, and advocacy.
The Guidance Center helps families to raise healthy children and works with kids (ages 0-24) who are troubled, in trouble, or causing trouble and parents who need help in these stressful times. Difficulties range from depression and anxiety, developmental delays and school failure, and substance abuse to family crises stemming from illness, death, trauma, and divorce.
