Schreiber High School senior Chloe Margulis has been chosen to receive the Yolan DePhillips Memorial Scholarship.
“Chloe has been outstanding student at Schreiber High School,” said Principal Ira S. Pernick. “Most notably, she is a voracious reader and excels in her passion for writing.”
She has published four books in recent years and has also completed a fifth titled, Sword on Hadrian, a trilogy novel.
Chloe serves as president Schreiber’s debate team, participates in the student council and is in five honor societies. She also plays the violin and composes music.
“I extend my congratulations to Chloe for earning this scholarship,” Pernick said. “We are proud of her accomplishments and wish her continued success in all of her many talents for the remaining school year and into the college level.”
The Yolan DePhillips Memorial Scholarship was formed in the spring of 2011 by JFK IAT, Terminal 4 and Our Lady of the Skies Chapel at JFK International Airport to commemorate the life of Yolan J. DePhillips. DePhillips, held a long and successful career in the airline industry and was active in many JFK Airport community activities.
The scholarship is awarded annually to selected children of JFK employees towards any field of study at any college-level educational institution in the United States.
