ICUU Conference Coming To Manhasset

conference

For the first time in its history, the International Council of Unitarians and Universalists (ICUU) will hold its biennial Council Meeting and Conference in the United States— at The Unitarian Universalist Congregation at Shelter Rock (UUCSR) in Manhasset.

UUCSR invites all area Unitarian Universalists and community members to this historic global event and to come meet with more than 100 members from more than 25 countries.

The conference will take place in Manhasset from Jan. 28 to Jan. 30.

Participants will gather to explore how Unitarianism and Unitarian Universalism can be a language of faith spanning cultures and uniting people in love and compassion. The program will include theme talks, worship services, chalice circle groups and other activities, as well as opportunities for networking and getting to know sisters and brothers from around the world.

Unitarianism and Unitarian Universalism call followers to take action on a myriad of social justice issues. Often times, these efforts center on advocating for the rights of underserved populations. This conference brings together people who have witnessed and suffered prejudice and inequity from across the globe. Participants at the ICUU conference will share their unique experiences and bond over the common belief in the inherent worth and dignity of every person and the goal of world community with peace and liberty for all.

Guest speakers will include Beth Zemsky, Rev. Abhi Janamanchi, and Rev. Peter Morales.

The opening celebration and community global worship begins Jan. 28 at 7:30 p.m.
