Korean War Veterans Meeting
Korean War Veterans of NC Chapter #1 will hold their regular monthly meeting at 1:30 p.m. (during the winter months) at American Legion Post #1711, 3123 N. Jerusalem Rd., Levittown. The chapter meets on the third Monday of every month. Call 334-1025 for more information.

Vietnam War Veterans Meeting
Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA) was founded in 1978, is congressionally chartered and exclusively dedicated to Vietnam-era veterans and their families. VVA Chapter #82 is your Nassau County Chapter and meets on the third Tuesday of each month at 8 p.m. at Hicksville’s VFW Hall. The Broadway Mall will be holding a family fun day from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Come to Center Court to enjoy free entertainment for kids.
Blood Drive
Broadway Mall will be hosting a blood drive in parternship with Long Island Blood Services. Come to the IKEA Wing from 10:45 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. to donate blood and help save a life.

Historical Society Winter Social
The Hicksville Historical Society will be hosting their winter social at the Hicksville Gregory Museum from 1 to 4 p.m. Historian Marissa L. Berman will give a presentation on Nunley’s Amusement Park that was on Sunrise Highway in Baldwin. Berman, a Long Island native and Assistant Director of the Archives at Queensborough Community College, has a book on the park published by Arcadia Books. Sands Casino Trip
The Catholic Daughters of the America’s #869 will be hosting a bus trip to the Sands Casino in Pennsylvania. The cost is $42 per person. Give back is $30 slot pay and $5 food voucher. The bus leaves at 9 a.m. sharp, please arrive at Cantiague Park, near the miniature golf course at 8:30 a.m. We will be returning at approximately 8:30 p.m. For reservations, call Barbara at 516-935-5576. The first to pay is the first on the bus. All profit will benefit our charities and scholarship fund.

Dare To Wear Red
The Joseph Barry Columbiettes will be hosting a Dare To Wear Red-Women’s Heart Health Dinner and Dance. Featuring singer and entertainer Joe Salemi. Speakers include Legislator Rose Walker and other health care professionals. Cost is $27 per person, which includes dinner, dessert, soda, coffee and tea. There will be a cash bar. Reservations and checks payable to Joseph Barry Columbiettes must be made prior to Feb 1. Call Pat at 516-433-4186. Proceeds benefit Columbiette charities and scholarships. Defensive Driving Class
Our Lady of Hope R.C. Church will be hosting a defensive driving course. This class will help students become safer drivers, and they can also receive a 10 percent insurance reduction from their liability and collision premium and up to four points will be deducated from their driving record. Central Nassau Guidance & Counseling Services
Located at 950 South Oyster Bay Rd. in Hicksville, Central Nassau Guidance and Counseling Services offers the following programs:
• The Community Program has a group for senior citizens. The Golden Years is open to all people over 60 who are dealing with issues related to drugs or alcohol. This is an opportunity to talk confidentially with your peers as well as having the support and guidance of a skilled professional. Medicare and most other insurances are accepted. The Community Program is also a NYS DMV approved facility. For information about this or any other services call 822-4060.
• A support group for those who have family members with mental illness meets Mondays from 7 to 8 p.m. A nominal fee is charged. Therapeutic and supportive services to people hampered in their functioning by mental illness, psychological difficulties and/or substance abuse and addiction problems is provided. The staff is comprised of psychiatrists, registered nurses and certified social workers.
• An outpatient substance abuse agency offering a Parenting Group. This group specializes in parenting issues for substance abusers. While drug use among teens has declined in other parts of the country, it continues to rise here in Nassau County. For information on this group as well as other services, call 516-822-4060.
