Bad Weather Updates
In case of bad weather, please check the recreation and parks website at www.gardencityrecreation.org or its Facebook page for information on closings or delays. Note that even if the school district cancels its after school activities, the recreation and parks department may still be open and holding its programs.

Family Fun Time On Sundays
On Sunday afternoons beginning Jan. 12, St. Paul’s Field House will be open for Family Fun for village families. This open time provides the opportunity for families to enjoy various gym activities in an indoor environment. The gym will be available for use from 3 to 5:45 p.m. each Sunday until March 9.
This time is designated for family time only. No organized practices or workouts will be allowed. Although there will be staff to monitor activity, this is not a drop off program. Elementary-aged children are asked to be accompanied by an adult. For the safety of users, no lacrosse or baseball will be allowed.
Adult Ultimate Tennis Workout
This 1½ hr. tennis workout is for the experienced tennis player who wants to hone their skills. It is held at Community Parks Tennis Facility on Saturdays from 10-11:30 a.m. and is open to any adult resident of the Incorporated Village of Garden City. This program will be offered in 9-week sessions with a start date of Jan. 25. The cost of the session is $249.
Peewee Sports Sampler For Preschool Aged Children
The Garden City Recreation Department will offer a Pee-Wee Sports Sampler program this fall for preschool residents of the Incorporated Village of Garden City. This program has been designed especially for the young child as a positive introductory experience to sports. The cost of each six-week session will be $75. Classes are 55 minutes in length. Children must be 4-years-old by the first day of class in order to attend. The program will take place at St Paul’s Recreation Complex according to the following schedule:
Thursdays at 4 p.m. (all other classes are filled)
Adult Tennis Lesson
The recreation department offers adult tennis lessons in a 10-week session. Lessons are open to all adults who are residents of the Incorporated Village of Garden City and are offered at various times during the day and on the weekends.
If you are interested in lessons for the upcoming winter season, which begins the week of Jan. 20 The cost of this 10 week, one hour program will be $249. Please make checks payable to “Inc. Village of Garden City,” please get an interest form from the recreation office at 108 Rockaway Ave. Classes will be put together according to ability and day desired on a first come, first serve basis. You will contacted by the department’s tennis pro, Carrie Strum, to confirm your class.
Children’s Yoga Registration Begins
Certified yoga instructor Connie McKnight has designed yoga classes with children’s abilities in mind. Each class runs for one hour. All classes are held in St. Paul’s Senior Center and started on Thursday, Jan. 16. Any resident of the Inc. Village of Garden City, ages 6–13, is invited to join these relaxing classes. The cost of each 10-week session is $80.
The course schedule is as follows:
Ages 6-8 Thursdays at 4:15 p.m.
Ages 9-13 Thursdays at 5:15 p.m.

Mad Science Winter Program
Garden City’s Department of Recreation and Parks is offering a six-week winter program geared to children who are interested in science. Mad Science of Long Island is a company who provides a wonderful and fun learning experience in an after school setting. Different topics such as “Bugs!” and “Walloping Weather” are offered for each week and the participants will cover a range of activities pertaining to the topic. Residents of the Village of Garden City entering grades k-5 are invited to attend.
The cost of the six-week program is $102 and all checks should be made payable directly to “Mad Science of Long Island.”
Adult Zumba In Cluett Hall
The following Winter Zumba exercise classes for adults will be offered by the department of recreation and parks beginning the week of Jan. 6:
Monday evenings at 7:45 p.m. 10 weeks for $90
Monday mornings at 9:15 a.m. 10 weeks for $90
Saturday mornings at 9:15 a.m. 10 weeks for $90
All classes will be held in St. Paul’s Cluett Hall.
Classes are lead by Felicia Lovaglio, dance conservatory director and adjunct professor at Adelphi. Each class is 45
minutes long.
Zumba Gold For The Active Senior Or Beginner
Winter Zumba Gold classes will be held in St. Paul’s Senior Center on Monday evenings at 6:30 p.m. or Thursday afternoons at 1 p.m. Each 45-minute class, teaching the basics of Zumba, is led by certified Zumba instructor Felicia Lovaglio. This class is geared for seniors or the beginner adult. Classes began the week of Jan. 6.

Registration For Winter Adult Yoga Begins

Bricks4Kidz – A Lego Experience For Grades K – 3
The Garden City Department of Recreation and Parks is happy to announce registration for the start of the Winter Bricks4Kidz After School Program.
Children in grades k–3 will use Legos to sample models from over two dozen different themes such as Super Hero Academy, Amusement Park, Mindstorm Robotics and Space Adventures. They will be encouraged and challenged to innovate and invent their own models or customize existing models to express their individual creativity.
This program is open to children in grades k-3 who are residents of the Inc. Village of Garden City. Classes will be held on Mondays or Fridays at 4 p.m. and began the week of Jan. 13. The cost will be $135.

Bricks4kidz Robotics For Grades 3 – 6
The Garden City Department of Recreation and Parks is happy to announce registration for the start of the Winter Bricks4Kidz Robotics Program.
Children will use Lego blocks and collaborate with each other to learn mechanical design, construction and programming is a fun setting. Classes are one hour in length and will be held in an eight-week session.
This program is open to children in grades 3-6 who are residents of the Inc. Village of Garden City. Classes will be held on Mondays at 5 p.m. and began the week of Jan. 13. The cost will be $135.
