Syosset Junior Takes Home Regional Honors

DSC_6607Max Carol, a junior at Syosset High School, has taken home several honors as a regional winner in the 2014 Scholastic Art and Writing Awards. He was awarded two gold keys and four honorable mentions in art, as well as one silver key and honorable mention in writing. This makes him eligible for two national awards, which will be announced in March. Last year, Max won the National Award for humor writing, as well as a gold and silver key in writing, four honorable mentions in writing and an honorable mention in art.

The Scholastic Art and Writing Awards, which were founded in 1923, have inspired creative teens nationwide through their work. Applicants in grades seven through 12 apply in 28 categories of art and writing for the opportunity to receive scholarships and have their work published. According to Scholastic Art and Writing Awards, the program has “grown to become the longest-running, most prestigious recognition program for creative teens in the U.S.”
