Christine Grippo of Locust Valley and Ed Melnik of Oyster Bay both successfully completed the 4th annual Sayville Running Company 10 Mile Run to the Blue Point Brewery held on the roads of Patchogue, Blue Point and Bayport on Saturday morning, Jan. 18.
Grippo finished the run in 1 hour, 15 minutes, 22 seconds, a 7:33 minute per mile pace that brought her to the finish line in 159th place overall and 12th in the women’s 30-34 age group. Melnik crossed the finish line in 1 hour, 27 minutes, 20 seconds, a pace of 8:50 minutes per mile that was good for 456th overall and ninth in the 60-64 age group.
A total of 1,085 runners successfully completed Long Island’s largest 10 mile race.
The run was co-sponsored by the Blue Point Brewery, the Sayville Running Company, AirWeld, and All Round Foods. Race management was by the Greater Long Island Running Club, with GLIRC’s Ric DiVeglio serving as the race director.
